Aunt Couchy

Margot gets a lot of strange looks when people hear the kids call her Aunt Couchy. It is funny, they very rarely call her Aunt Margot. And the reason for that is they always seem to find her on the couch! Even if a bed is available she is on the couch. I am pretty sure Joe started the name and it has stuck... sorry Margot.

But this entry is to say how nice it is for Quinn, Grace & Julia to have an Aunt in their lives that loves them so much. We actually asked Margot to be Julia's godmother, or as Margot says "Fairy Godmother". And she loves spoiling them and is notorious for buying them really big & loud toys...

  • Power Wheels

  • Burger Joint

  • Yo Gabba Gabba microphone (so annoying)

So thank you Couchy and the kids are excited to see you at Thanksgiving. They said you will be flying on Wubby's airplane.

Saturday Night

So it is 9:30 on Saturday night... Joe is in the recliner with a sleeping baby Julia and I thought I would hop online to check my email. The house is quiet and clean... Quinn & Grace are sleeping!

Here are some funny random things that have happened over the past few days I thought I would share...

We are remodeling part of the basement into a guest bedroom and hired an electrician. Well Mark the electrician came over a few weeks ago to give us an estimate and Quinn and Grace just immediately liked him... especially Quinn. He has tools & a truck... it doesn't get better. So before leaving that night they had to give him hugs and you should have seen how excited he was this morning when he saw his truck pull up. It is so cute.

And yesterday I was pouring myself a bowl of shredded wheat for breakfast when Quinn walked in the kitchen, looked at the box and said he wanted a bowl of "Cookie Monster Cereal" for breakfast. I have no idea how he came up with that... but whatever he ate 2 big bowls. And then told me I needed to buy more at Wegmans.

And a little something on Baby LuLu... that is what Quinn & Grace call her. She is really starting to respond to us... smiling and making sweet little baby noises. Last night Joe and I were sitting with her on the couch and she was so cute making all her noises at us while we were talking to her.

That is it for now... I am tired!

First Day Alone

Well the time has finally come, both Grammy and Aunt Margot (Couchy) have gone back to South Carolina. Yesterday was my first day home alone with all 3 kids and it actually went pretty well. Grammy had been taking the twins to a story hour at a local library on Tuesday mornings and they really enjoyed it, so I thought we should go. And we had a nice time and were actually a few minutes early... I thought for sure we would be late! And look how cute all of them look in their Halloween shirts... yes all 3 of them!

But Grammy has also created monsters! After story hour each week she would take them to Panera for lunch. So we are getting ready to leave and Quinn turns to me and says... "Go to Paneras". These kids don't forget anything. So I thought what the heck and we went. Julia was perfect, she slept the whole time and Quinn & Grace loved getting their soup and grilled cheese. But grammy didn't warn me how messy they get with the chicken soup! They have to eat it like big kids out of the crocks with big soup spoons... which meant about half the soup actually made it into their mouths... most of it was on them. Oh well, they had fun and that is all that matters.

Trip to Explore and More and Playdate with Avery

So Aunt Couchy (my sister Margot) and Aunt Abigail are in town and we went to Explore and More yesterday with our friends Kamryn & Christian. The amazing thing was I told Margot I wanted to be on the road by 9:00... and holy cow we actually were! That is pretty good considering Quinn & Grace have to get into their carseats by themselves... "I do it" and we now have little Julia. And on the ride home from East Aurora the only one that fell asleep was Aunt Abigail... I guess we wore her out!

And then we had a playdate with our friend Avery. Avery and the twins used to go daycare together and she lives around the block. They are so cute together and get along really well.

October 2006 vs 2008

So here is my first attempt at putting some pictures on here!

Those of you that are from Buffalo are very familiar with the freak October storm that took place in 2006. Quinn & Grace were only a few months old and we actually were having them baptized that weekend. Mom, Margot and Tante Anita arrived hours before the storm hit. They actually drove in because Tante couldn't fly. I remember meeting them at daycare and the snow was falling really heavy and I just wanted to get the babies and get home.

So that night we got 2 feet of wet heavy snow and because it was October all the trees still had leaves on them. Well that snow brought down trees and branches everywhere which in turn meant power outages everywhere. So when we woke up Friday morning the house was freezing and no power.

Grammy, Aunt Margot, Tante Anita, Quinn, Grace and myself all spent the next 3 days at the Hyatt. Poor Joe stayed back at the cold dark house and bailed water out of the basement... no power meant the sump pump wasn't working. We finally got power back a week later... yes a week!

So the first picture is our street the morning after the storm. The next picture is at the baptism, yes we still had it. Joe and I were EXHAUSTED! A day/week we will never forget. And the next picture Joe took of the twins. Daycare didn't have power either so the babies were home. Joe stayed home with them one of the days and had a little photo shoot with them... he takes the best pictures.

And then fast forward 2 years... and we now have beautiful little Julia in our lives.

My First Blog

Okay, so here goes nothing! My friend Kelly Carroll has the cutest blog website ever and I have been admiring it since she put it up. So as a baby gift she bought me time with the designer that did her site. So the site you are looking at right now is not the final one, I still have to make a lot of decisions as to the feel and look of it. But isn't that a great gift!

So I have a few minutes, Quinn & Grace are at school today and Julia is sitting in her bouncy seat sleeping. Grammy left this morning, oh boy are we going to miss her. She arrived on September 6th and has been busy with kids, cleaning, cooking and laundry. Quinn saw her suitcase this morning and was asking where she was going. All plane's are "Wubby's plane" so she told him she was going on Wubby's plane back to South Carolina. Grace was in her own little world and didn't really ask any questions! But we will see them again at Thanksgiving, and my goodness that is not that far away.

So my plans with this blog are to keep all of our family and friends... close and far away updated on what is going on with the Dennie Family. Stay tuned... a lot more to come!
